The key to Cedarville Farm's success is our ability to rotate hunting sites to keep from over-pressuring birds.  By having exclusive hunting rights to multiple quality properties and limiting membership to 5 persons per each of our hunting days (Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays), we have maintained our seasonal club goal average of 5 or more birds per man day of hunting and harvested over 30,000 waterfowl since inception in 2002.

There are 28 duck species and 11 goose species/subspecies in our area.  Nine of the 28 duck species are rare or uncommon (Black Scoter, Blue-winged Teal, Canvasback Duck, Cinnamon Teal, Common/Aleutian Teal, Eurasian Widgeon, Redhead Duck, Ruddy Duck). The Harlequin Duck is restricted to 50 - 1 duck each permits.  Two of the 11 goose species/subspecies are rare or uncommon (Ross's Goose, Vancouver Canada Goose) and 1 subspecies (Dusky Canada Goose) is now closed to hunting.  There are 2 harvestable water birds in our area (Wilson's Snipe, American Coot).  Of the 9 uncommon/rare ducks we've harvested Blue-winged Teal, Canvasbak, Cinnamon Teal, Eurasian Widgeon, Redhead, and Ruddy Ducks at Cedarville.  We've harvested all but the Ross's Goose at Cedarville.  We usually harvest a few hybrids and exotics each season.

Mallards and Widgeon trade back and forth for our most abundant ducks with mostly Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, and Northern Shovelers filling any empty spots on the lanyards.  Western Canada Geese and Cackling Canada Geese are our most abundant geese.
